We are Canopas Software LLP ("Company", "we", "us", "our"), a company registered in India at 552-554, Laxmi Enclave 2, Katargam, Surat, Gujarat 395004.
We operate the mobile application Splito (the "App"), website, as well as any other related products and services that refer or link to these legal terms (the "Legal Terms") (collectively, the "Services").
Welcome to Splito. Splito helps friends, families, roommates, teams, and groups keep track of shared expenses in a simple and transparent way.
By using Splito, you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
1. What Splito Is (and Isn't)
Splito is a shared expense tracker, not a bank, payment service, or legal accounting tool.
- Expenses, balances, and payments recorded in Splito are informal records only
- They do not create legal contracts or enforceable debts
- Splito simply helps you organize and understand who paid for what
You're responsible for resolving real-world payments and disputes outside the app.
2. Eligibility
You may use Splito only if:
- You are 13 years of age or older
- You are legally allowed to use online services under your local laws
- Your account has not been suspended or terminated by us before
If you don't meet these requirements, you may not use Splito.
When using Splito, you agree that:
- The information you provide is accurate and honest
- You'll keep your login details secure
- You're responsible for all activity on your account
You're also responsible for confirming that expenses entered by you or others are correct.
3. License to Use Splito
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to use Splito for its intended purpose.
You agree not to:
- Copy, modify, disassemble, reverse engineer, or decompile the app
- Sell, rent, lease, or sublicense Splito
- Use the app for illegal, harmful, or unauthorized purposes
- Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the service
All rights not expressly granted remain with Canopas Software LLP.
4. How the Service Works
Splito allows users to:
- Create groups
- Add expenses, payments, and notes
- Upload optional content such as receipts or comments
- View balances calculated by the app
Splito performs automated calculations based on user input. We do not guarantee accuracy, since data is entered by users.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Splito only for lawful and appropriate purposes. You must not use Splito to:
- Commit fraud or financial manipulation
- Harass, threaten, or abuse others
- Launder money or support illegal activities
- Misrepresent yourself or others
- Disrupt or attempt to break the service
We may suspend or terminate access if we believe these rules are violated.
6. User Content & Ownership
You retain ownership of any content you add to Splito, such as:
- Expense details
- Comments or notes
- Avatars or group names
- Receipts or attachments
By using Splito, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, display, and use this content only to operate and improve the service. We do not claim ownership of your content.
You are solely responsible for anything you upload or share. We may remove content if it:
- Violates laws or someone's privacy
- Is misleading, abusive, obscene, or harmful
- Promotes illegal activity or hate
- Puts users or Splito at risk
We are not required to monitor content but may do so at our discretion.
7. Content Guidelines
You may not share content that:
- You don't have the right to share
- Contains private or sensitive personal data
- Is hateful, violent, or discriminatory
- Is sexually explicit or exploitative
- Is illegal or promotes illegal acts
- Is spam, scams, or deceptive promotions
Violations may result in content removal or account termination.
8. Privacy & Data
We collect and process personal data to operate Splito. Details are explained in our Privacy Policy.
By using Splito, you agree that:
- Your data may be processed as described in the Privacy Policy
- Information may be disclosed if required by law or legal requests
- You are responsible for keeping your account secure
9. Service Availability & Changes
Splito is provided "as is" and "as available."
- Features may change, break, or be removed
- We may update or discontinue parts of the service at any time
- We don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service
We're always improving but things won't always be perfect.
10. Paid Features & Subscriptions
Splito may offer optional paid plans or in-app purchases.
If you subscribe:
- Payments are handled via app stores or approved payment providers
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before renewal
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions via your app store settings
- Prices and features may change over time
Refunds are handled according to platform policies and applicable law.
11. Account Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account:
- If you violate these Terms
- If required by law
- If your usage creates risk for Splito or others
You may stop using Splito at any time.
12. Disclaimer
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED AND YOU ARE USING THE SERVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK. CANOPAS SOFTWARE LLP DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT, INCLUDING FOR SPLITO PRO. CANOPAS SOFTWARE LLP DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT THE APP IS FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
IN NO EVENT WILL WE OR OUR DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFIT, LOST REVENUE, LOSS OF DATA, OR OTHER DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
13. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, represent the entire agreement between you and Splito regarding use of the service.
14. Governing Law
These Legal Terms shall be governed by and defined following the laws of India. Canopas Software LLP and yourself irrevocably consent that the courts of India shall have exclusive jurisdiction to resolve any dispute which may arise in connection with these Legal Terms.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, and so you should review this page periodically. When we change the policy, we will update the 'last updated' date at the top of this page. Continued use of our Services after any posted modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
